Digestive disorders affect more than just your gut

You have things to do, places to be, you have plans. But it seems like your gut has other plans.

Whether it's inflammatory bowel disease, celiac, metabolic disorders such as obesity and Type 2 Diabetes, or any other number of diagnosed or not, when your stomach isn't feeling right, you don't have the freedom to live your life as you deserve to. And that just initiates a domino effect in the digestive system causing sleep problems, loss of energy, and change in mood and cognitive abilities.

The Importance of the GI System

The gastrointestinal system plays a central role in immune system homeostasis.  Oxidative stress, bacteriophage induction (the induction of bacteria-focused viruses), and the secretion of bacterial toxins can trigger rapid shifts among intestinal microbial groups thereby yielding dysbiosis.

Because the gastrointestinal system is the primary route of contact with the external environment, a huge number of immune cells reside within it (Vighi G, Marcucci F, et al., 2008).  A multitude of diseases, including inflammatory bowel diseases, and metabolic disorders such as obesity and Type 2 Diabetes, are associated with intestinal dysbiosis (Weiss GA et al., 2017).

Biomunity Can Help

Lactobacillus bacteria (a probiotic genus) ferment carbohydrates in the gut, which produces lactic acid.  Lactic acid is important as it helps create an acidic environment in the digestive tract and blocks a lot of harmful microorganisms.  Biomunity contains four scientifically validated strains of lactobacillus bacteria.  The efficacy of probiotics has been tested in antibiotic associated diarrhea, infectious diarrhea, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome, in addition to other disorders.

Biomunity may help with bowel regularity and relief from symptoms of irregularity associated with diet, stress, and medication side-effects (including diarrhea and constipation).  The addition of functional fibers can also help to improve bowel habits, resulting in firmer stools and enhanced regularity.  Consumption of foods rich in fiber is also modestly associated with a reduced risk of obesity and Type 2 Diabetes (Cho SS, Qi L et al., 2013).

Ingredients that Help

  • Bifidibacterium lactis: exhibits excellent gastric acid and bile tolerance, improves bowel function, reduces gastric side effects of antibiotic treatment.
  • Lactobacillus acidophilus: effective in the treatment of diarrhea, chronic diarrhea.
  • Lactobacillus Rhamnosus: significantly reduces the frequency and severity of abdominal pain in children with IBS.
  • Lactobacillus Rhamnosus: resists acid and bile degradation, effective in preventing travel-related diarrhea.
  • Cinnamon: significantly lower body weight and BMI.
  • AppleActivDAPP: reduces OxS and inflammation, two pivotal processes involved in inflammatory bowel diseases.
  • Vitamin D3: may help with Crohn’s disease - shown to significantly increase serum Vitamin D levels

You Were Made for these Moments

Biomunity can provide relief for a multitude of diseases which are associated with intestinal dysbiosis, such as IBS, obesity, and Type 2 Diabetes.  Probiotic ingredients (b. lactis, l. acidophilus, l. rhamnosus) have been shown to help with bowel regularity and provide relief from symptoms of irregularity that may occur from inflammation, diet, stress, medication side-effects, and/or antibiotic treatment.  Additional ingredients in Biomunity decrease the activity of inflammatory enzymes, which helps to reduce the frequency and severity of abdominal discomfort, and influence obesity by lowering body weight and BMI.

Ingredient-Specific References

  • Bifidibacterium lactis exhibits excellent gastric acid and bile tolerance. Clinical studies have demonstrated the probiotics ability to improve bowel function, to have a protective effect against diarrhea, and to reduce gastric side effects of antibiotic treatment.  Studies in healthy adults demonstrated B. Lactis increases stool frequency and softens the consistency of stool (Jungersen M, et al., 2014)
  • Lactobacillus acidophilus is effective and safe as an adjuvant in the treatment of acute diarrhea, chronic diarrhea, and anti-biotic associated diarrhea (María Remes Troche J et al., 2020)
  • Lactobacillus Rhamnosus has been shown to significantly reduce the frequency and severity of abdominal pain in children with IBS, an effect that is likely secondary to improvement of the gut barrier (Francavilla R, Miniello V, 2010).
  • Lactobacillus Rhamnosus is remarkable in its ability to resist acid and bile degradation and to adhere to the intestinal mucosa. Studies suggest l. rhamnosus may be effective in preventing diarrhea in patients with previous history of traveler’s diarrhea (Hilton E, Kolakowski P, 1997)
  • Cinnamon supplementation significantly affects obesity measures and has been shown to significantly lower body weight and BMI (Mousavi SM, et al., 2020).
  • AppleActivDAPP has capacity to reduce OxS and inflammation, two pivotal processes involved in inflammatory bowel diseases. The phenolic compounds present in DAPP have been shown to reduce levels of cytokines, as well as decrease activity of the inflammatory enzymes involved in IBS (Denis MC, Furtos A., 2013)
  • Vitamin D3 might be effective in Crohn’s disease as it has been shown to significantly increase serum Vitamin D levels and insignificantly reduce the risk of relapse in populations with the disease (Jørgensen SP, Agnholt J, 2010)
